For the Oregon Symphony

November 12, 2023

Metal stands arranged in rows

Hold scores for the musicians

Whose instruments each have a

Part conceived and composed

As a musical story.

The musicians practiced

Alone for hours to reach

Perfection in their part

Before group rehearsal.

The conductor coordinates

The musicians in each section

And each section with the others

To re-awaken the music.

With the concert hall abuzz

The patrons in excited

Anticipation now hush

As maestro’s baton rises.

And then the magic begins

As each musician becomes

An integral part of the

Symphony playing as one.

Oh what a wondrous beauty

To behold with ear and eye!

A true marvel of human

Expression and achievement.
