Indian Summer

Summer

In all its glory

Has retreated

Into the precious

Time between

With days yet

Sunny and warm

While nights lengthen and cool.

The Earth,

Like me,

Loath to bid summer adieu

Gives a parting embrace,

A time between,

A lingering farewell

And a promise of

Summer yet to be.
